Elizabeth Armstrong

Elizabeth Armstrong graduated from Goldsmiths Art College and since then has spent her life traveling around the world and more latterly around racecourses, honing her skills, embracing her surroundings, and most importantly the thoroughbred which is most apparent in her work today. Widely recognised as an equestrian artist, Armstrongs unique style, effortless drawing skills and colourful compositions in both traditional and mix media are exhibited in the UK and abroad, from the Dubai World Cup, celebrated UK galleries, to the Horseracing Museum in Newmarket. With work in private collections around the world, Armstrongs work is also available to see on UK racecourses, these include Cheltenham where Jockey Club Racecourses commissioned work for their new Princess Royal stand – 16 drawings can be seen on the third floor and 2 are sited in the Royal Box. Newbury, Foss Lass and Fontwell are also amongst UK courses that host work. Armstrong also holds the position as artist in residence at Royal Windsor Racecourse. Other commissions include Shadwell where Armstrong illustrated the front cover of their Stud brochure, and an on-going commission from Newbury Racecourse to produce a new piece of art to celebrate their season highlight the celebrated (Hennessey, now Coral) Gold Cup winner every year.
