Darren Kenyon

I’m a retired teacher and rugby player. I live in the town of Faringdon and have done for over 20 years. Although I trained as a P.E. Teacher most of my teaching was in schools for children who had emotional and behavioural problems which often resulted in challenging behaviour. My last teaching job was a class teacher in my local junior school in Faringdon, which was a wonderful way to end my teaching career. I started painting before I retired, but since retiring I have spent a good deal more of my time painting. Most of my paintings are of musical heroes of mine, from my youth who made a profound impact on my life growing up and in later life. My other passion is singing. I sing in two local bands and also recently performed an acoustic version of ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’ and other various Pink Floyd songs to raise money for a local youth charity, which inspired one of the paintings on display. When choosing a painting I either scour the internet for an image which I feel encapsulates my connection with the artist, or I merge images from different sources to making a collage which captures different periods of their career.
